4/365 – Footprints

20170104_1323572

Aeryn loves dinosaurs at the moment! We’ve discovered a great show of Netflix called Dinosaur Train which involves learning about different species and features of dinosaurs through the stories of a family of pteranodons and an adopted T-Rex who ride a time travelling train.

It sounds insane, and like most kids shows it kind of is, but an actual palaeontologist presents segments between the animation and even I’ve learnt a few things.

One episode we learnt about footprints and trackways left by dinosaurs that have been fossilised and found millenia later. Aeryn loved the idea of making footprints and as soon as she saw the sand at the park, she ran straight away to leave her own trackway!

We don’t watch much TV, in fact it’s the only kids show she watches, but I love how she’s taken in an idea and turned it into her own play.

Then we ran to the swings and the slide and had a great time playing in the freezing cold with no one else there! The cold makes the park empty, so we made the most of it!

These little moments, just the two of us, are so special to me. Every week, this tiny life inside me grows and the time for just Aeryn and I to spend as a twosome shrinks. I’ll still make time for us to spend just us, but soon we’ll always have to think about when we need to get back to the baby and usually we’ll be a three (or four with Ben, too). It’s going to be a big change.
