We stayed at my in laws last night, trying to help everyone through the aftermath of Jack’s death. There are a hell of a lot of phone calls to make, personal affects to collect from his home, appointments to schedule and just general things to try to to get on with after something so awful.

Aeryn has been doing her best to cheer people up and be a welcome distraction. Here she is watching Winnie the Pooh with her Grandma P and having lots of cuddles. She knows something serious happened, she barely slept last night, and keeps testing and tantrumming, which is totally understandable. Anyone who thinks kids are oblivious to adult concerns are seriously mistaken.

Hopefully we all sleep better tonight and start to get ourselves together. Typically,  Ben and I have got the worst cold viruses we’ve had in an age, too. I think it’s all caught up with us.

Jen enjoys reading (endlessly, everything), creative writing, playing RPGs, buying from local markets, drinking coffee, drinking tea, craft projects, baking, gentle parenting, home educating and speaking in third person. She blogs about issues and ideas surrounding education, parenting, feminism, craft and various other interesting tidbits. What a wonderful word, tidbits.
