Aeryn was much, much better today, thankfully. All that sleep must have done her some good!

We all went to Birmingham Wildlife and Conservation Park for our final meeting with Charlotte and Nick before they leave for India on Thursday. It was bitterly cold, but we all had a great time. The highlight was definitely the red panda pair, who were just adorable.

It’s hard to believe that Charlotte and Nick are going to be gone for so long. It’s going to be at least a year before they come back. They’re starting in India, heading to Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, all over the place before heading to Australia and ending up in New Zealand for a working holiday.

Aeryn is going to have changed so much when they get back. And they won’t meet her brother until he’s nearly a year old. They’ve been such a huge part of Aeryn growing up, it’s going to be really strange to not have them around anymore. We’ve told Aeryn they’re going on a long holiday, but obviously it hadn’t quite sunk in how long we mean!

I have to admit, I’m quite jealous. I have always wanted to travel. But life moved in a different direction and I have my beautiful kids and Ben and we’re really happy.

But one day soon, Ben and I are going to pack up our home and our babies and travel too. Maybe we’ll get a campervan, or perhaps we’ll go work on organic farms all over the world, or hop between youth hostels. We’ll world school and have amazing, meaningful, huge, tiny moments of exhilarating life in the far flung corners of wherever with our beautiful children. Soon.

Have an amazing time, Charlotte and Nick! We’re going to really miss you. Skype us all the time! And don’t rush home, enjoy every minute.

xXx
